Rico Teixeira sings with Salgueiro, a samba school from Rio de Janeiro. He joined them around 2018, and his voice brought a different energy to their performances. In 2023, he wrote the samba-enredo for the school's carnival parade, a song called 'Samba-Enredo 2023 - Salgueiro (Samir e Cia).' It was about a group of young sambistas from the 1960s.
That 2023 song became popular quickly. Some of his other tracks include 'Negro Branco' and 'Ô meu Pai.' In 2022, there was some talk about plagiarism involving an earlier samba-enredo, but he denied it and kept working.
