Robério e Seus Teclados

Robério Luiz Monteiro started playing keyboards in the 1970s in Santo André, working with his brother Adalto on drums and their cousin Silvio de Andrade on guitar. They were a local act for years, playing festivals and weddings around town. In 1979, they met composer Cleber Augusto, and together they wrote 'Saudade da Minha Pequena,' which came out the following year.

That song became their calling card, a ballad about longing that connected with listeners across Brazil. They followed it with other tracks like 'Volta Amor' and 'Linda,' keeping to a straightforward folk style. Their albums in the 1980s and 1990s included titles like 'A Saudade Continua' and 'Forró Nordestino,' staying close to the regional sounds they knew.

Some critics at the time felt their music leaned too heavily on sentiment, especially songs about missing home. But the group kept playing the material that had worked for them, and 'Saudade da Minha Pequena' remained the one people remembered.
