Robertinho Kambalacho was born Roberval Alves dos Santos in Sousa, Paraíba. He started playing guitar as a teenager, drawn to the traditional rhythms of his region. In 1996 he put out his first album, 'Forró Meu Nome É Kambalacho,' which began to build his name in the forró scene.
His 2002 album 'Forró e Vaquejada Eu Tô Dentro' became a national hit, especially the title track. That song, along with others like 'Vaqueiro do Sertão' and 'Pisada do Vaqueiro,' connected him strongly to the vaquejada cowboy culture in Brazilian music. He kept recording through the 2000s with albums like 'Forró Pé de Serra' and '10 Anos de Forró e Vaquejada.'
In 2006 he faced legal trouble over firearms found at his home, which paused his career for a time. He was later acquitted. His music includes songs like 'Pensando Em Seu Beijo' and 'Só Pode Ser Amor' that show his range within forró styles.
