Robi Alys began as a French duo in the mid-1990s with Roberta Alys on vocals and Michel Alys on guitar and composition. Their debut album "Laissez-moi encore chanter" gave them their first hit, and they followed it with "Ces moments-là" the next year. The title track from that debut became one of their most recognizable songs.
After Michel Alys died in 2000, Roberta continued the project alone. She released albums like "Ailleurs qu'ici" in 2002 and "Il n'y a personne" in 2005, which included songs such as "Adiós muchachos" and "Besame mucho." Her later work includes the 2019 album "L'envie d'écrire."
Their catalog shows a range from original French material to interpretations of standards like "Beguine (Begin the beguine)" and "Brésil (Brazil)." Other tracks include "Amour (Amor amor)," "Cachita," and "Chi-baba chi-baba (Mi bambino fait dodo)."
