Robson Pires Franco was a Brazilian gospel singer from Rio de Janeiro who started singing in church around age ten. He wrote his own songs as a teenager, and in 1981 he released an album called 'Jesus Nasceu Em Belém de Juda.' The title track became his best-known recording, a version of a traditional Christmas hymn that people still play during the holidays.
He put out a few more albums in the 1980s, like 'Eu Vou Seguir' in 1982 and 'Paz Interior' in 1987. Another song of his, 'É No Silêncio Que Eu Estou Junto Ati,' appears in his catalog. He sometimes worked with other musicians, including keyboardist Edson Guimarães and vocalist Rosana Menezes.
Robson Pires Franco died in 2020. His version of 'Jesus Nasceu Em Belém de Juda' remains familiar in Brazilian gospel circles.
