Rock Star Supernova came together through the reality TV show 'Rock Star: Supernova' in 2006. The lineup included Lukas Rossi on vocals, Tommy Lee on drums, Gilby Clarke and Dave Navarro on guitar, and Jason Newsted on bass. They released their self-titled debut album that same year, which featured the song 'Be Yourself (And 5 Other Cliches).' The band put out a second album called 'Doomsday Boulevard' in 2007.

Their music included tracks like 'Can't Bring Myself To Light This Fuse' and 'Headspin.' The group's formation through television meant they faced immediate media attention and questions about their legitimacy as a band. They managed to record and tour despite the unconventional start.

After their second album, the members returned to their other projects. Tommy Lee went back to Mötley Crüe, Gilby Clarke had previously played with Guns N' Roses, Jason Newsted was known from Metallica, and Dave Navarro continued with Jane's Addiction. The band didn't release further studio material after 2007.
