Rocka Rolla was a Brazilian rock band that formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1980s. Their sound mixed rock with funk and samba, which didn't always sit well with critics at the time. They released their self-titled debut album in 1983.
Their 1985 album 'Dama da Noite' included the title track that became something of an anthem for their listeners. The band's lyrics often dealt with social and political themes, which drew attention during Brazil's military regime period.
The group included Luiz Carlos Maluly (also known as Lulu Santos) on vocals, Nelson Motta as lyricist, Ricardo Silveira on bass, Arnaldo Brandão on drums, and Eduardo Resende on guitar. They released several albums including 'Revoluções por Minuto' in 1987 and 'Dias Melhores Virão' in 2001.
