He started gaining attention in 2012 with his debut mixtape 'Driving 88,' which shares its name with one of his better-known tracks. His music often mixes introspective lyrics with melodic hooks, drawing from Chicago's hip-hop traditions.
One of his most recognizable songs is 'Must Be,' a 2014 collaboration with Chris Brown. That track and others like 'Kush Do' and 'A.C. Green' show his preference for laid-back, reflective production. He followed 'Driving 88' with mixtapes like 'Electric Highway' in 2013 and 'The Night I Went to Prom' in 2014.
In 2015, he was arrested on a marijuana possession charge, an incident that he later said made him reconsider some of his choices. He kept releasing music after that, putting out the mixtape 'Black Sheep' in 2019.
