Archive material and source history
Rodolfo Biagi was a bandoneon player and orchestra leader from Buenos Aires, born in 1913. He started playing music early and formed his own orchestra in 1939. During the 1940s and 1950s, his group became one of the popular tango orchestras in the city.
Biagi worked with vocalist Jorge Ortiz, and their 1955 recording of 'Indiferencia' is one of his best-known tracks. He recorded many other songs during his career, including 'Volver' in 1944, 'El Choclo' in 1945, and 'Adiós Nonino' in 1959.
His orchestra included musicians like Juan Carlos Cirigliano on bandoneon, Osvaldo Manzi on piano, and Marcos Madrigal on violin. Biagi kept performing and recording through the 1960s, even as musical tastes began to shift.
