Tommy Roe

Tommy Roe was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1941. He started playing music as a teenager and got his break in 1962 when producer Bob Crewe signed him. His first big hit was "Sheila," which caught on quickly and made him known internationally.

Roe's biggest song came in 1969 with "Dizzy," which topped the charts and became his signature track. He also had success with songs like "Hooray For Hazel" and "Crimson And Clover." His music generally stayed in the pop and rock territory that worked for him in the late 1960s.

In the 1970s, Roe faced some legal trouble over his song "Sweet Pea," which was accused of plagiarism. The case was eventually dismissed. He kept recording and performing through the decades, though he never quite matched the commercial peak of his late-60s hits.
