Roger McGuinn was the frontman of The Byrds, known for his 12-string Rickenbacker guitar sound. He grew up in Chicago and started playing in local bands, influenced by folk and rock musicians like Woody Guthrie and Buddy Holly. In 1964, he formed The Byrds with David Crosby, Gene Clark, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke.
The Byrds' debut album 'Mr. Tambourine Man' became a hit, featuring McGuinn's version of the Bob Dylan song. The band had other successful songs like 'Turn! Turn! Turn!' and 'Eight Miles High.' After The Byrds ended in 1973, McGuinn worked on solo projects and collaborated with artists including Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. Some of his solo songs include 'Your Love Is A Gold Mine' and 'Ain't No Money.'
