Roimungstrupp came out of Wuppertal in the late 1970s, part of that German punk scene that was loud and unpolished. The band had Hans-Jürgen "Haggi" Hirschmüller on vocals, Martin "Marty" Käser on guitar, Georg "Schorse" Burkhardt on bass, and Christian "Chrischi" Hecken on drums. They played with a raw energy that got them noticed.
Their 1981 single "Anders" became a kind of anthem, with its straightforward melody and lyrics about being different. That song stirred up some trouble with conservative groups who didn't like what it said. The band kept playing through it, and tracks like "Back On The Streets" and "Falsche Freunde" kept that same direct, confrontational tone.
They put out records like "Roimungstrupp" in 1980, "Der Tag der Idioten" in 1981, and "Keiner" in 1982. The music stayed rough and political, speaking to people who felt left out or angry about how things were. It wasn't about being subtle.
