Rokkurró

Rokkurró formed in 1984 with Magnús Þór Jóhannsson on vocals and guitar, Jóhann Jóhannsson on bass, and Guðmundur Óskar Guðmundsson on drums. Their debut album came out the following year, and it caught on quickly in Iceland. The song "Allt gullið" became their most recognizable track, a ballad about searching for real value that eventually found listeners outside their home country.

They put out a few more records in the late eighties and early nineties, like "Blús og tóbakk" in 1987 and the album "Allt gullið" in 1990. Other songs from that period, such as "Augun Opnast" and "Ferðalangurinn," show the band working with straightforward rock arrangements and melodic hooks. In 1995, they dealt with a copyright issue over a traditional folk melody, but kept recording afterward.
