Be Fine

On some days, I feel like I've finally won

Like I've extinguished all the darkness

But the ashes are warm

And so when I look away

Thinking I've made it to salvation

A little flame starts to form

And soon my house is ablaze

That I had built up to contain it

I've seen it happen before

So when I lay the first brick

I wonder is this really worth it?

Am I just wasting time?

It's hard when you feel you have nothing to offer anyone

And so I'm building a bridge

Between what is and all that will be

And can finally look up

But when my foot hits the sand

It's never more than just an island
