Romana formed in Brasília in 1984 with Paulo Ricardo on vocals and guitar, Xixo on guitar, Fausto Fawcett on bass, and Marinho Boffa on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year and included the single "Já Não Sou Bebê," which became a national hit in Brazil.
Through the late 1980s and early 1990s, they released albums like Flores Astrais and O Mundo É o Meu Lugar. Other songs from that period include "Abre-se uma Janela" and "Não És Homem P'ra Mim." In 1992, Xixo and Marinho Boffa left the band, which led to a hiatus.
Romana returned in 2000 with Tempo Certo, but the album didn't find much commercial traction. The original lineup, minus Xixo, reunited in 2015 for a performance at Rock in Rio, which was followed by a tour and a live album called 30 Anos: Ao Vivo.
