Romes e Carlinhos

Romes e Carlinhos were a Brazilian duo consisting of Romualdo Amâncio dos Santos and Carlos Roberto Martinez Costa. They met in São Paulo in the early 1960s and began performing together, eventually recording what became their most recognizable song, "Jogo De Truco," in 1964.

That song, inspired by a popular card game, connected with listeners through its straightforward melody and lyrics about ordinary life. Other tracks like "Correndo No Mandiocal (Quebra Pau)" and "Tudo Azul" followed a similar approach, built around simple arrangements and conversational singing.

In 1965, the military government censored "Jogo De Truco" for what it considered political content. The duo kept performing it informally, which added to the song's reputation among some listeners. They recorded albums including Meu Barco in 1967 and a self-titled release in 1970, usually sticking to acoustic instruments and themes about daily routines and relationships.
