Rosas do Vento

Rosas do Vento formed in Portugal during the 1980s, with Zé Pedro as their vocalist. Their 1984 debut album 'Rosa do Vento' mixed Portuguese rhythms with Celtic and rock touches. The song 'Estrela Guia' from their second album became a classic, its melody sticking with listeners across the country.

Their lyrics sometimes carried political or social commentary, which brought both support and criticism. The band was known for supporting leftist causes through their music. They worked with artists like Brazilian singer Daniela Mercury and Celtic musician Carlos Núñez.

Over time, their sound shifted from folk traditions toward elements of world music, jazz, and electronica. Guitarist Pedro Jóia, bassist Manuel Paulo, and drummer Zé Maria were part of their core lineup. Other songs like 'Tanta Saudade' and 'Amor de Cowboy' show their range across different albums.
