They first gained attention with the 1976 single 'Car Wash,' which became a radio staple.
Their 1978 single 'Wishing On A Star' became their signature song, reaching the Billboard charts with its blend of soulful vocals and ethereal melody. Around the same period, they released 'Love Don't Live Here Anymore,' another track that found regular airplay. These songs appeared on albums like 'In Full Bloom' and 'Rose Royce III' during the late 1970s.
By the early 1980s, the band faced internal tensions that led to lineup changes. Dickey left in 1983 to pursue solo work. Despite these shifts, songs like 'Do Your Dance' and 'Hataz Ain't Gon Like It' continued to represent their funk and soul style from their earlier recordings.
