Rossy War

Rossy War is a Mexican band that formed around lead vocalist and songwriter Rossy Ochoa, with Héctor Guerra on guitar, Alberto Pérez on bass, and Miguel Sánchez on drums. They started out playing local venues as an independent group, working through the usual financial constraints that come with that territory. Their 1999 album 'Nunca Pensé Llorar' gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming a national hit in Mexico.

That song, along with others like 'Que Te Perdone Dios' and 'Amor Prohibido,' established their sound in romantic ballads and regional Mexican music. They followed up with albums in 2001 and 2004, and returned in 2019 with '20 Años.' In 2002, they faced plagiarism allegations over a melody on 'Tu Amor Me Hace Bien,' though those were eventually dismissed.

Their catalog leans toward cumbias and heartbreak songs, with 'Tonto' and 'Me Engañaste' rounding out their most recognizable tracks. They've kept at it long enough to put together a straightforward body of work that connects with listeners who appreciate that style.
