Rostam

Rostam Batmanglij was born in 1983 to Iranian parents. He first became known as a multi-instrumentalist and co-songwriter in Vampire Weekend, the indie rock band where he worked until 2016. After leaving the group, he started releasing music under his own name.

His solo album 'Half-Light' came out in 2017, followed by 'Changephobia' in 2019. Songs like 'Bike Dream' and 'Gravity Don't Pull Me' show his interest in layered arrangements that mix electronic textures with more traditional songwriting. He's also worked with other artists, including Kelly Zutrau on the track 'Half-Light'.

Rostam produces and writes most of his material alone, though he often brings in collaborators for specific parts. His music tends to avoid straightforward genre labels, weaving together elements from different styles without settling into any one sound.
