Rostros Ocultos formed in Guadalajara in the mid-1980s with Guillermo Sánchez Arreola on vocals, Eduardo Carrillo Nava on guitar, Federico Fong Chong on bass, and Alfonso Figueroa on drums. They spent their early years playing shows around Mexico while developing a sound that mixed hard rock, metal, and psychedelic elements.
In 1994, the band released their second album, also called 'El Final.' The title track became their most recognizable song, a ballad about love and loss that connected with listeners across Latin America. That album brought them wider attention and led to more touring.
The lineup that recorded 'El Final' remained their core configuration during those years.
