Roxette was a Swedish pop duo formed in 1986 by Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson. Gessle had been in the band Gyllene Tider before asking Fredriksson to collaborate on a song. Their first album, 'Pearls of Passion,' came out that same year and found some success in Sweden.
International fame arrived with their 1989 album 'Look Sharp!' and its single 'It Must Have Been Love.' That song, along with others like 'Listen To Your Heart' and 'The Look,' became global hits. They followed with albums including 'Joyride' in 1991 and 'Crash! Boom! Bang!' in 1994.
In 2002, Marie Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which led to a hiatus. She recovered and returned to performing in 2009. The duo continued to release music, putting out 'Charm School' in 2011 and 'Good Karma' in 2016. Marie Fredriksson died in 2019.
