Roy Black was born Gerhard Höllerich, a German singer who also acted in films. Anita Hegerland was a Norwegian singer who started performing as a child. They began working together in 1970, and their first single 'Du bist nicht allein' became popular in Germany.
They released more than twenty albums together before separating in 1978. Roy Black struggled with addiction during his career and died in 1991.
Anita Hegerland continued singing after their partnership ended, recording both in German and Norwegian. The music they made together still gets played on German radio stations that feature older pop songs.
