Rua14 formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1990s with Bruno Gouveia on vocals and guitar, Felipe Boaventura on guitar, Fábio Bicalho on bass, and Pedro Bicalho on drums. Their sound mixed rock, pop, and MPB, and they put out their first album in 1996.
Their song "Quatro e Vinte" became a major hit, though in 1998 they faced plagiarism accusations over it that were eventually dismissed. They kept recording and touring, releasing albums like Trem Azul in 1997 and Depois do Fim in 2000. Other tracks like "Vou Fugir de Casa" and "Complicado" also found an audience.
By 2010, Pedro and Fábio Bicalho had left the band. Rua14 released their sixth studio album, Z, in 2014.
