Rubinho Rocha

Rubinho Rocha came up in the early 2000s with a sound that mixed samba, funk, and pagode, sometimes with a bit of rap in it. His lyrics could be playful or direct, and he sang about relationships and everyday life without much filter. The single "Pego Mesmo" broke through in 2003 and became a hit, pulling him into wider recognition.

He put out a few albums in the years that followed, including "Nação Rubinho Rocha" in 2005 and "Samba do Rubinho" in 2013. Another track, "Caso, Lavo e Passo," also got some attention. His live shows had a raw energy, and he worked with musicians like Claudinho de Oliveira on bass and Carlinhos do Cavaquinho on cavaquinho.

Some of his material drew criticism early on for being too explicit or unconventional, but he kept writing and performing in his own style. The music stayed grounded in Brazilian rhythms while letting his personality come through.
