Their lyrics tackled poverty, inequality, and repression, which sometimes got them into trouble with authorities.
Their debut album 'Desistência' came out in 1986, and the title track became something of an anthem. The band's sound shifted over time, taking in hardcore and metal touches, and they put out records like 'Guerra Civil' in 1991 and 'Anormal' in 1997. Noja, Cobra, and Mendonça stayed at the center through various lineup changes.
They worked with other Brazilian musicians like Jorge Mautner and Chico Science. For a certain generation, their music, especially 'Desistência,' still carries weight as a document of that era's frustrations.
