Russo Passapusso is a Brazilian band from Salvador, Bahia, formed by Antônio Carlos "Russo" Barbosa and Leonardo "Passapusso" França. Russo had previously played with the Afro-beat group Filhos de Jorge, which informs some of the traditional rhythms in their music. Their song "Anjo" became particularly well-known, but they've also released tracks like "Paraquedas," "Sem Sol," and "Flor de Plástico."
Their debut album, Bahia Blues, came out in 2013, followed by A Sombra do Jaguar in 2016 and Éter in 2019. Their 2022 release is called Ancestralize.
Their music draws on Afro-Brazilian and samba elements, sometimes with experimental touches. They've addressed social issues in their work, though they've also faced some criticism for being too esoteric. Their live shows are noted for their energy.
