Rusty Cooley is a guitarist who came up in California's metal scene during the 1980s. He formed a band called Rusty Cooley's Outburst in 1984, which put out two albums before ending in 1989. His first solo album came out in 1992.
In 1994, he started a band called Under the Influence with vocalist John West. Their self-titled debut did well, and the song 'Under the Influence' got some attention. Cooley's playing was known for being fast and technical.
He had some personal difficulties around that time, including an arrest in 2002. Later on, he released more music, including an album called 'As the Sun Sets'.
