Editor's note

S Club 7's bright, brief pop moment

A seven-piece British group that soundtracked the turn of the millennium with TV-ready optimism.

If you need the vibe, 'Reach' and 'Never Had A Dream Come True' still have that sugar rush. They're the blueprint.

For a few years around 2000, S Club 7's music was everywhere if you were watching kids' TV. Songs like 'Never Had A Dream Come True' were pure, polished pop built for Saturday mornings, and they soundtracked that specific era of pre-teen life. They weren't trying to be edgy, just reliably upbeat.

They came together in 1998 for a BBC show, 'Miami 7,' and their first single 'Bring It All Back to Me' landed the next year. After a run of albums and hits, Paul Cattermole left in 2002, and the group called it quits the following year.

S Club 7 was a British pop group formed in 1998 through a BBC talent search. The seven members, Paul Cattermole, Jo O'Meara, Tina Barrett, Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Rachel Stevens, and Jon Lee, first appeared together on the children's television show "Miami 7." Their debut single "Bring It All Back to Me" came out in 1999, followed by albums like "S Club," "7," and "Sunshine."

Songs like "Never Had A Dream Come True" and "Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You" became hits in the early 2000s. Paul Cattermole left the group in 2002, and the band released a final studio album called "Seeing Double" that same year. They disbanded in 2003 after putting out a greatest hits collection.
