S-Express was a British electronic duo formed in 1986 by Mark Moore and Pascal Gabriel. Their first single, 'Theme From S-Express,' came out in 1988 and became a UK number one hit. The track's driving beat and catchy vocal hook made it an immediate dancefloor favorite.
They followed up with another single called 'Hey Music Lover' and released their debut album 'Original Soundtrack' that same year. The group's sound mixed house music rhythms with pop melodies at a time when electronic dance music was just beginning to break through to mainstream audiences.
After a few more releases including the albums 'Superfly Guy' and 'Intercourse,' S-Express disbanded in 1991. Their early singles remain recognizable samples of late-80s electronic pop, particularly 'Theme From S-Express,' which still gets played in clubs and on retro playlists.
