S U R F I N G

S U R F I N G formed in Mexico City with Memo Rex on vocals and guitar, Jesus Báez on guitar, and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez on bass. They started playing shows around the city's smaller venues, developing a sound that drew from post-punk and shoegaze textures. Their first release was the 2012 EP 'Sirens,' which introduced their atmospheric approach.

In 2013 they put out the album 'Be Somebody,' which included tracks like 'Dead Of Night' and 'End Of The Night.' The record found listeners who responded to its layered guitars and reflective tone. They followed it with 'Homecoming' in 2016 and 'Awakening' in 2019, continuing to work with hazy melodies and drifting arrangements.

Songs such as 'Cool Out' and 'Feel Strong' typify their style, washed-out guitar lines, steady rhythms, and vocals that sit back in the mix. They've kept a fairly low profile outside their recordings, letting the music speak for itself.
