Sacassaia

Sacassaia formed in 1994 around brothers Gustavo and Rafael Miranda, with guitarist Rafael Castro. They worked through early financial struggles, playing small clubs and underground shows before things shifted with their 2002 debut album 'Ninguém Dorme.' The title track became a national sensation, a haunting ballad that captured a certain restlessness.

After that breakthrough, they released several more albums including 'Sonho Real' in 2004, 'A Cidade' in 2007, and 'A Casa ao Lado' in 2010. Their live shows developed a reputation for intimate atmosphere, building a loyal following both in Brazil and abroad. The lineup saw some changes over time, with Castro departing in 2007 and bassist Caio Lopes joining in 2010, but the Miranda brothers remained at the core.

Their music sometimes touched on social issues, and they collaborated with artists like Marisa Monte and Gilberto Gil. Songs like 'Boca da Terra,' 'Calabar,' and 'Ossoduro' continued their blend of melodic sensibility and lyrical depth, maintaining their presence in Brazilian music without the dramatic arcs sometimes attached to their story.
