Sacra Luz formed in Brazil in 1996 with vocalist Fernanda Brum, guitarist Emerson Pinheiro, keyboardist Alexandre Aposan, bassist Deco Rodrigues, and drummer Bruno Prado. Their early work included the self-titled album "Sacra Luz" that same year. The group's sound drew from Brazilian music and pop, with songs like "Sacrário Teu" and "Deus Está Aqui" becoming familiar in contemporary Christian circles.
In 2004, Brum left to pursue solo work. The band continued releasing albums, including "Tempo de Festa" in 2002 and "Vida" in 2006. Their 1998 album "Sacrário Teu" gave its name to one of their best-known songs. Other tracks like "Obra Nova Em Jesus" and "Eu Tenho Fé" reflect the group's focus on worship themes.
Sacra Luz put out a compilation called "Especial 15 Anos" in 2011. Their music occasionally incorporated elements outside traditional worship styles, which drew some discussion at the time. The band's recordings have maintained a presence in Brazilian Christian music since the late 1990s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
