Arizona thrash band known for aggressive riffs and lyrics questioning authority since the late '80s.
For a quick sense of what they do, 'Breakthrough' still hits hard. 'I Don't Care' from their later work shows they haven't softened much.
When Sacred Reich came out of Phoenix in 1985, thrash metal was already loud and fast, but they brought something else to the pit. Songs like 'Breakthrough' and 'Who's To Blame' from their 1987 debut 'Ignorance' paired the aggression with lyrics that actually addressed social and political issues. That combination, the guitar work and the willingness to question injustice, has kept their music relevant long after their first records.
They formed in 1985 and released 'Ignorance' in 1987, establishing their thrash style with sociopolitical themes. After 'The American Way' in 1990 and 'Heal' in 1996, which introduced some different musical elements, they returned with the 2019 EP 'Something to Believe.' The lineup has consistently featured Phil Rind on vocals and bass.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
