Saga formed in Oakville, Ontario in 1977 with brothers Michael and Jim Crichton, along with Steve Negus, Ian Crichton, and Marc Hall. Their 1981 album 'Images at Twilight' included the single 'Wind Him Up,' which became a top-20 hit in Canada. That album also contained the ballad 'Always There,' written by Michael Crichton, which developed a following for its melodic structure and lyrical themes.
While some critics in the 1980s questioned their use of synthesizers, the band continued working with electronic elements alongside their rock arrangements. They released albums like 'Silent Night' in 1984 and 'Behaviour' in 1986, and have toured regularly. Other songs in their catalog include 'Back To The Shadows,' 'Footsteps In The Hall,' and 'Hands Of Time.'
The current lineup includes Michael Crichton on keyboards and vocals, Ian Crichton on guitar, Jim Crichton on bass and vocals, Dusty Chesterfield on drums, and Rob Moratti on keyboards.
