Sagacidade Total formed in Salvador, Bahia in the late 1990s with vocalist Peu Sousa, guitarist Chico Chico, bassist Dinho Almeida, and drummer Magrão. Their early sound pulled from reggae, punk, and Brazilian folk, and they signed with Sony Music in 2001.
Their debut album 'Inimigos do Silêncio' came out that same year and brought them national attention. The track 'Essa Vai Pros Paga Pau!' became a breakout hit, its lyrics about corruption and inequality resonating with many while drawing criticism from some in power.
They released several more albums including 'Mandato' in 2003 and 'O Último Assalto' in 2019. The band's lineup shifted over time, with Dinho Almeida and Magrão leaving around 2005.
