Sagittarius

Sagittarius formed in Los Angeles in 1967, with Jim Lacey and Ed King as founding members. Their name came from astrology, and they put out their first album, 'Present Tense,' the following year. The band's sound mixed folk, rock, and psychedelic elements, which you can hear on songs like 'Blessed By God' and 'Another Time.'

Their 1969 album 'The Blue Marble' included 'Blessed By God,' which got some attention and stirred a bit of talk about its spiritual lyrics. The band went through several lineup changes over time, with people like Jim Gordon on drums and Stu Cook on bass coming through at different points.

They kept recording through the early 1970s, putting out albums like 'Brand New Morning' and 'Life of Illusion.' Other tracks in their catalog include 'Doin' It' and 'A Hanged Mans Last Rope.' The group's membership shifted fairly often, which gave their music an evolving quality without settling into one fixed style.
