Sagrada Face

Sagrada Face formed in São Paulo in the late 1990s, with Fabio Elias on vocals, Ricardo Cruz on guitar, Marcelo Jordão on bass, and William Alves on drums. Their name translates to 'Sacred Face,' which hints at the reflective quality in their work. The band's sound pulled from post-punk and experimental electronica, sometimes weaving in Brazilian rhythms.

Their 1999 album 'Pense Nisso' gave them their signature song of the same name. Other tracks like 'A Escolhida De Deus' and 'Chuva' show their range across that record and later ones. They put out several albums through the 2000s, including 'O Segundo' in 2002 and 'Tempo de Guerra' in 2006, each exploring different textures and themes.

Sagrada Face's lyrics often dealt with introspection and social questions, which resonated with a particular audience in Brazil's alternative scene. They worked with figures like DJ Zé Pedro and percussionist Mestre Macaco Branco at times, adding to their layered sound. The band maintained a consistent lineup through their active years, which helped shape their distinct presence.
