Editor's note

Salt the Wound, a metal band from Omaha

A Nebraska group that kept going after losing a vocalist in 2009.

For a sense of their sound, try 'An Era Of Revolution' or 'We'll Sleep Until Sunset'. It's straightforward, heavy stuff from a band that weathered a tough loss.

They formed in 2003 with a sound pulling from Pantera and Slayer. Their debut 'Carnivore' arrived in 2007, and they've put out records like 'Slaves to Substance' and 'The Diktat' since. Songs like 'An Era Of Revolution' show their heavy, darkly themed approach.

The original lineup included vocalists Chris Carrion and Zakk Tye. After Tye's death in 2009, Johnny Plague joined, and they released albums through 2019. Their lyrics often drew criticism for dealing with grim subjects.
