Sam Beam & Jesca Hoop

Sam Beam and Jesca Hoop first worked together in the early 2000s. Beam was already known for his work with Iron & Wine, while Hoop had been writing and performing on her own. Their collaboration resulted in the 2010 album 'Every Songbird Says,' which includes tracks like 'Sailor To Siren' and 'Chalk It Up To Chi.'

Their music tends toward sparse arrangements, often built around guitar, piano, and cello. Their voices blend in a way that feels close and conversational rather than grand. Lyrically, their songs lean into personal reflection, as heard on 'Know The Wild That Wants You' and 'Valley Clouds.'

They released another album together in 2019 called 'Love Letter for Fire,' and followed it with 'Shape & Destroy' in 2022. The work stays within a certain quiet, folk-adjacent space, avoiding big production in favor of something more direct and unadorned.
