SAMBA 6 formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1984 with six musicians: Chico Alves on lead vocals, Georges "Jorjão" Silva on bass guitar, Márcio "Marciozinho" Ferreira on lead guitar, Chico de Souza on cavaquinho, Elcio Milito on surdo, and Pedro Lago on pandeiro. Their music mixed Brazilian samba with jazz and pop elements.
In 1985, they released the song "Janet Lynn," which sparked some debate about its lyrics concerning a romantic relationship between a Brazilian man and a foreign woman. The track became popular despite the discussions around it.
They put out several albums through the early 1990s, including "Samba 6" in 1984, "Liberdade" in 1987, "Brasil" in 1989, "Bahia" in 1991, and another in 1993.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
