Samba De Rainha formed in Rio de Janeiro in the mid-1970s around composer and vocalist Sandra de Sá, percussionist Paulinho da Costa, and guitarist Jorge Aragão. Their music mixed samba with funk and rock elements, which didn't sit well with some traditional samba listeners at the time.
The band's material often dealt with social issues that weren't widely discussed publicly in that era.
They recorded songs like "Samba de Ninar," "Não Me Amarra Não," and "Dona da Canção." The group's lineup included Sandra de Sá on vocals, Paulinho da Costa on percussion, and Jorge Aragão on guitar.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
