Samurai MC

Samurai MC came together in São Paulo in the late 1990s, with founding members DJ Hum and Lelê. Their music pulls from hip-hop, funk, and samba, with lyrics that often touch on social justice and city life. They've worked with other rappers, like on the track 'Acerto de Contas (part. Outro Lado RAP).' Over time, other MCs like Primo Preto, Nego Jam, and Qualy joined the group.

Their songs have sometimes drawn attention from authorities. In 2006, one of their tracks was cut short in the existing history, hinting at the kind of pushback their straightforward lyrics can get. They've kept putting out music for more than twenty years, including albums like 'Hip-Hop Vida, Vida Hip-Hop' and 'Corra da Polícia.'
