Samuray

Samuray formed in Lima in 1997, with Miguel Barraza as the vocalist. They started out playing cumbia, drawing on the rhythms of Peru's coast. Over time, they worked in salsa and rock touches, along with some Andean melodies, which gave their sound a particular texture.

Their song 'Contigo o Sin Tí' came out in 2003 and became a hit. It's a cumbia track with an upbeat melody and lyrics about love, and it helped them reach a wider audience. Other songs like 'Amigo Del Alma' and 'Fue Tan Poco Tu Cariño' followed a similar style, mixing danceable rhythms with straightforward, emotional themes.

They toured internationally after that, playing live shows that emphasized energy and crowd connection. Their music stayed rooted in Peruvian cumbia but kept a broad, accessible feel that let them draw listeners from different places.
