Samus

Samus came together in Belo Horizonte in the late 1980s, with Patricia Marx on vocals, Arnaldo Brandão on keyboards, and Luiz Caldas on bass and guitar. Their first album, simply called 'Samus,' came out in 1989 and established their particular take on synthpop, which was still an unusual sound in Brazil at the time.

Their song 'Sobre As Capitais' became a significant hit, helping to push them to a national audience. They followed that debut with other albums like 'Sei Que É Fácil Falar' in 1991 and 'Olhos Abertos' in 1995. The band's lyrics often touched on social and environmental themes, which connected with listeners and sometimes stirred conversation beyond just the music.
