San Lunes formed in São Paulo in 2009, a rock band built around Bruno Cadore's vocals. Their debut album 'Instinto' came out in 2011 and got them some national attention. The 2013 album 'Estopim' was the one that really connected, with the title track addressing government corruption and social injustice in Brazil.
That album's songs like 'Estopim' and 'Metade de Mim' found an audience looking for rock music with something to say. Their lyrics often dealt with poverty and inequality, which sometimes drew criticism but also defined their place in the scene. They kept releasing albums, including 'Os Tempos Mudaram'.
They were a São Paulo band that managed to speak to something broader in Brazil during that period. The music had an urgency to it, less about polish than about getting a point across.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
