Sandra Reis e Jucimara

Sandra Reis and Jucimara Ferreira started singing together in the early 1990s, coming from Minas Gerais where they first performed in churches and local gatherings. Their music took a turn in 1996 when they appeared on a televised festival and performed "Beleza Divina," a song that quickly became associated with them.

That song, along with others like "Bolha de Sabão" and "Jovem Outra Vez," gave them a presence in Brazilian pop. They kept recording through the late 1990s, putting out albums that included the track "Beleza Divina" as a title piece.

Some listeners found their approach direct, and they faced criticism from more conservative quarters. They continued performing and putting out music that spoke plainly about women's experiences without much ornament.
