Sandro Dhiacanga grew up in Angola's forests, where he absorbed traditional Congolese and Angolan rhythms from an early age. He formed his band Seringueira in the early 2000s, naming it after the rubber trees of his homeland. Their 2004 debut album included the track 'Seringueira,' which became something of an anthem in Angola.
His lyrics often addressed social and political themes, which resonated with listeners but also drew attention from authorities. In 2006, he was briefly detained after a concert. Despite this, he continued performing internationally, with albums like 'Mulher Maravilha' and 'Suave' following in the late 2000s.
Other songs in his catalog include 'De Passos a Barretos,' 'Esquecer de Que Jeito,' 'Fruta Ainda Flor,' and 'Lua Cheia.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
