Sanfoneiro Ouro e Prata formed in Fortaleza, in northeastern Brazil, around musicians Zé Pereira and Pedro Bandeira, who both played accordion. They were later joined by bassist Zé Viola and drummer João Paulo. The band's music is rooted in forró, a regional rhythm from that part of the country.
Their song 'O Relógio Divino' became a notable hit. There was some dispute about the song's origins in 2005, but the band maintained it was their original work. They released albums including 'Forró é o Ritmo,' 'O Forró do Milênio,' and 'A Vida é um Vai-e-Vem.'
