Sangre Joven formed in Medellín, Colombia in 2007 with four members: Carlos Mario "El Flaco" Castañeda on vocals, Diego "El Gordo" Castañeda on bass, Daniel "El Petiso" Fernández on drums, and Jonathan "El Lobo" Castañeda on guitar. Their debut album "Sangre" came out the following year.
That album included "Los Mejores Tiempos," which became their breakthrough single. In 2010, another song called "Me Gustas Mucho" drew criticism for its lyrics, though it still became popular.
The band saw lineup changes over time. Jonathan Castañeda left in 2012 and was replaced by Juan Camilo "El Peluche" Villa. Diego Castañeda departed in 2015, with Andres "El Gordo" Torres taking over bass. They kept releasing albums like "Sangre Nueva" in 2011, "Sangre Caliente" in 2013, and "Sangre Latina" in 2016.
